In today’s HR News Beat, Duke University has developed a program to help entry-level staff get into administrative roles, and automaker General Motors announces the company has a new vice president of global human resources.

Duke Human Resources is redesigning its career-development programs within its Professional Development Academy. The biggest change? One of their programs will be focused on preparing entry-level staff in service jobs for roles in administrative support. It’s a 37-week program meant to help full-time employees develop the necessary skills to qualify for advancement within Duke. More details here.

 

General Motors Selects New HR Leader

Kim Brycz is the new senior vice president of global human resources for General Motors. She fills the hole left by Jose Tomas, who left the position last month. Brycz’s appointment is effective immediately. Brycz has previously served as the executive director of global product purchasing. Automotive News named Brycz one of the 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry in 2015. For more information, click here.

 

Singapore’s employment outlook increases

ManpowerGroup has put out its latest employment survey for Singapore. For Q2, the outlook put’s Singapore at +11%. Of the 695 employers surveyed in the country, 16% of them said they planned to increase staffing levels in Q2. The outlook takes that information into account. 72% say they’re not planning to change their hiring plans. Click here for more.
