Misty Otto leads the strategic communications planning, counsel, direction and implementation for the Office of Talent Management (OTM). With a concentration on OTM-specific programs, she works in tandem with Corporate Communications, OTM leadership and other senior leaders to facilitate cohesive, efficient and effective employee communications at all levels of the organization.
Prior to joining Parkland in January 2016, Ms. Otto served as Director of Communications for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), where she oversaw strategic direction and program implementation to deliver MADD’s mission via multi-channel communications including external, internal, executive and corporate communications. She directed the organization’s media relations strategy for national media and major markets, with a strong focus on crisis communications and issues management. In this role, Otto also managed the MADD National President’s calendar, public appearances, speeches and media interviews.
Ms. Otto previously served as Public Relations Director for Williamson-Dickie Mfg. Co. (Dickies workwear) from 2008 to 2014, where she developed the company’s first proactive, strategic and tiered approach to public relations across media relations, entertainment, celebrity seeding, special events and issues management. Prior to Dickies, Otto led public relations and branded entertainment efforts for Pier 1 Imports from 2004 to 2008.
Otto has a Bachelor of Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations from The University of Texas at Austin.
