The rapid growth of emerging countries such as Singapore, India and China, has created opportunity for IBM; however, it has also brought its share of challenges. Aggressive hiring in these countries resulted in an enthusiastic but largely inexperienced work force. One of the issues facing senior management was how to increase performance of its young sales force by putting in place interventions that would enhance processes and improve skills – and therefore drive revenue growth.
