4:10 PM MasterClass: The Future of Learning Is Experiential: Tomorrow’s Leaders Demand More than PowerPoint

According to a recent survey in Training Magazine, 44% of training expenditures was allocated to management training or executive development. Companies are making this investment to offset a shrinking talent pool, by turning their current generation of managers into leaders. Yet traditional leadership training is falling short; too often, participants leave training programs with no insight into their leadership style, their strengths and weaknesses, or concrete ways to apply what they have learned in their daily lives.
Experiential learning succeeds where lectures and discussions struggle—in changing patterns of behavior. For example, managers who are non-confrontational can be immersed in a situation that requires them to practice assertiveness. Feedback and reflection on key experiences and moments—and the ability to try again —can lead to true improvements in behavior. At its core that is the power of experiential learning. In this session we will discuss:
  • Identifying the factors that are leading participants to expect more immersive learning environments•Examples of different ways to leverage experiential learning ranging from onboarding, new manager training, all the way to senior executive development
  • How to leverage virtual experiential learning when presented with blended learning opportunities that do not involve face to face interactions
