Angela Justice, PhD, is the Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Surgery Partners. Surgery Partners is the largest independent, publically-traded surgical services company in the United States with over 10,600 employees and 5,000 physician partners spread across 180 locations. She is responsible for designing, implementing and supporting human capital strategies to drive business outcomes. Prior to joining Surgery Partners, Angela was the Chief Learning Officer at Biogen—a global, biotechnology company headquartered in Cambridge, MA. In that role, she led global teams supporting all areas of the business and was responsible for establishing learning as a competitive force with measurable business impact.
Before her appointment as Chief Learning Officer, Angela held senior leadership positions in Global Medical Affairs at Biogen. Angela began her professional career at McKinsey & Company as a management consultant. She learned how to quickly diagnose problems and propose solutions in a wide variety of industries and gain the trust and respect of senior executives. From there, she held leadership positions at EMD Serono and the National MS Society. With deep expertise in Learning and HR, an analytical approach, and broad experience as an enterprise leader, Angela has a unique ability to develop and operationalize short- and long-term strategies that are practical, scalable, and get results.
Angela has a B.S. degree in Psychology from Minnesota State University and a PhD in Biopsychology from the University of Chicago, where she was also an adjunct faculty member.
