Kristi Burnham joined UNICEF USA in 1999 and currently serves
as UNICEF USA’s Vice President of Professional Learning and Leadership
Development. She oversees
the organization’s professional development offerings, including creating
training opportunities and tracks for employees at various stages of their
career. For seven years prior, Ms. Burnham served as the Vice President of Community
Engagement where she oversaw programs designed to engage the American
public in global citizenship activities that increase awareness about the
issues affecting children across the world and inspire local action in support
of UNICEF’s global work. She worked closely with membership organizations on campaigns to raise funds for
UNICEF’s work to address and advance HIV and AIDS, clean water, immunization,
education, and child protection, and led the team that won the Kiwanis
partnership called The ELIMINATE Project, a $110 million dollar effort to
eliminate Maternal and Neo-natal Tetanus.
She has led partner field visits to Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Rwanda, Sierra
Leone, Swaziland, and Uruguay.
Burnham has also held positions at the
University of Georgia, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the Girl Scouts
of Greater Atlanta, and Music Midtown. She
holds a B. A. in advertising from
the University of Georgia and has more than 28 years of experience in
fund-raising, grassroots mobilization, volunteer management, and creating
professional development offerings. She
has successfully completed many leadership courses including Center for
Creative Leadership’s Leadership Development Program and Leading the Strategy,
Project Management Fundamentals, and more.
Among other distinctions, her work has earned a top ten ranking among
fellowship programs, and she is one of only three recipients of the Honorary
Key Club Member award from Key Club International.
