In my company, we don't differeniate between vacation time, sick time, etc. Instead we have a PTO (paid time off) time off program. My question is, if an employee calls in and says he is taking a "e;PTO"e; day, he is obligated to tell us the reason why? Do we, the company, have a right to ask the employee why he is taking the day off (e.g. sick, etc.)?
