Anyone looking at their LinkedIn feed during this economic downturn has experienced a tornado of posts about recent layoffs. Some insensitive employers have made the rounds on social media for laying off large groups of remote workers via Zoom or blog post, which is an employee value proposition killer. While the tech sector has been hit hardest, economists are warning that more layoffs and a full-fledged recession could be on the horizon.

This kind of news is tough for Human Resources professionals, who are charged with both conducting layoffs and tending to the emotional needs of employees. Balancing those two roles is a challenge and one for which HR professionals must brace themselves. As a result, HR Exchange Network is gathering thought leaders and employment lawyers, with a tremendous following in the community, to discuss the delicate dance HR leaders must pull off when conducting layoffs with compassion.

You will learn about

  • The legal obligations of employers conducting layoffs
  • How to avoid going viral for all the wrong reasons in the aftermath of layoffs
  • How to break the news to the workforce, both those directly impacted by the layoffs and those remaining on the job
  • Ways to support those who are being let go in the wake of the layoffs
  • Whether it is even possible to conduct compassionate layoffs
