Liza Voticky is a former talent executive who has worked for companies such as Royal Caribbean and Coca-Cola, but these days, she's turning her attention to solving a pressing technology need in the talent acquisition space.

"I've seen companies that are trying to sell a human capital management platform come to places I've worked with their solution that didn't even have a recruiting function within the platform," Voticky said. "And then when you ask for one, they kind of just say 'well we'll build one for you.' The experience that was built out of that approach didn't work."

When it comes to finding talent, Voticky believes companies have to change their view from being focused on finding that needle in the haystack candidate to seeing themselves as the needle in the haystack.

"The talent that is entering the workforce is extremely connected, Voticky said. "They know what they want, what their skills and abilities are and they're looking for the right fit. The haystack is flipped. It's the candidates that are out there looking for the needle and we're the haystack now. We need to present ourselves as that unique opportunity."

On this edition of the HR Exchange podcast, editor David Rice sits down with Voticky to chat about some of the pressing issues in talent, and what issues she's trying to solve in 2021.
