I am in the state of Pa., recently gave notice to terminate employment with my company. It is an agency that I work full time for without a contract. Work has been slow. According to our handbook we are to give a 4 week notice. I did so,they needed me to work one day the week after I gave my notice. Timeline is: gave notice 8/18/09 was given verbal notice 8/26/09 stating that as of end of business day I was being laid off. I already told my new employer that I wouldn't be able to start til 9/15/09. So I decided to call my new employer and tell them of the situation if they wanted me to start sooner, so they checked with their human resource dept. and they said if I was laid off I could start sooner, that I had no obligation to my old employer. The question here is up til the day I was laid off I still had vacation pay due me 56 and some odd hours which they prorated to the date of being laid off so it came into a lesser amount of hours. Question is
