We are a small medical practice. I have an employee who wants to take time off for an elective surgery. I cannot accomodate her request at this time but I am afraid she will have her physician say it is medically necessary for her to have her surgery now instead of later in the year. This person has voluntarily told many of us that she is refusing medication and other treatment options and just wants to move forward with surgery. Her condition is one that can be controlled with medication, etc. December really would be a better month for me as so many of my doctors take vacation and we tend to slow down. I really cannot afford to be short an employee right now, anywhere from 2-8 weeks depending on her outcome. What consequences would I be facing if I tell her this it is not possible to take time off now? Cindy
