Work Productivity and Employee Health: The Role of Absenteeism and Presenteeism
To enable employers to create and maintain a positive work environment that includes a healthy and engaged population, companies must look deeper to really determine the level of health in their employee population as it relates to the productivity of their workforce. Looking at absenteeism and presenteeism within the employee population at the Veterans Health Administration helped to determine where the organization needed to focus its wellness initiatives as well as the implications to healthcare costs.
