ChatGPT can write job descriptions

ChatGPT continues to mesmerize those in Human Resources, not to mention everywhere else. It dazzles people with its ability to respond as a human (or even better than a person would). While humans are the only ones who can put the human in Human Resources, there are many ways ChatGPT and similar artificial intelligence technology can help HR do its job.

One obvious way to utilize ChatGPT is to have it write job descriptions. So, HR Exchange Network recently asked the technology to, "Provide examples of job descriptions that remove bias, offer details of the job role, and are transparent." Here are the results and the HREN analysis of each:

Job Description: Marketing Coordinator

HREN Analysis: This job description offers a detailed overview of the position. Considering the vague details provided to ChatGPT, this one includes specific information that can help people gauge whether it is worth applying. Some might argue that the requirement for a bachelor's degree could be a sign of bias. That might even be true of the requirements for proficiency in various software because companies can train people with a capacity for learning and digital awareness.

Still, this is not for a junior role and many are still requiring that piece of paper for certain positions. In addition, some companies might be searching for someone, who can hit the ground running and does not require much training. People will have to remove that bias before ChatGPT can.

Job Description: Customer Service Representative

HREN Analysis: This job description offers a little less information than the first one. However, it is for an entry-level position, which could appeal to a larger group of people. In addition, there are fewer specialized skills necessary here, which is why job applicants might not need more information. The highlight of this one is the fact that it seems more accessible while still offering a realistic picture of what is required of the job. Job Description: Software Engineer

HREN Analysis: This last description further proves that ChatGPT can write well and provide enough details to attract qualified people to apply for the job. It offers enough information to help readers determine if they have the chops to apply. This is another job description that mentions a requirement of a bachelor's degree. From now on, HR needs to reflect on that requirement to determine if it truly is necessary.

This one is, but assessing whether a job really needs a college graduate to fill the role should become a regular exercise for HR. Overall, however, ChatGPT provides exactly what is necessary to give people an overview of each job. With more information, such as the culture or mission of a particular organization will improve the job descriptions.
