
Paul Rumsey
Paul Rumsey serves as the SVP, HR Chief of Staff at Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC. In this role he leads HR alignment, integration of HR solutions, process improvement, vendor relations, HR strategy and culture. To support Atrium Health’s growth strategy, he strengthens Regional HR Partnerships, including serving as project lead for new strategic HR partners joining through strategic combinations (mergers). He also leads the HR budget, internal teammate communication and teammate experience. As Chief of Staff, Paul serves as “HR for HR” to enhance skill development aligned with HR competencies while addressing teammate relations issues within HR. Prior to Atrium Health, Paul served as the Chief Learning Officer at Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas, TX, where he led executive coaching, career development, leadership development, succession management and other teammate performance initiatives for 12,000 employees. Additionally, he functioned as deputy to the EVP, Chief Strategy Officer and directed several system-wide initiatives in strategy development/implementation, customer/patient service and culture transformation. In 2016, Becker’s Hospital Review named him as one of the 10 Chief Learning Officers to know. Under his leadership, his team won the National Fund/CareerStat Emerging Leader award for providing career development opportunities to frontline employees along with five ATD-Dallas Axis awards for leadership development, career development, strategy implementation, succession and diversity and inclusion. Prior to Parkland, Paul Rumsey served as Vice President of Global Learning and Development for TGI Fridays, which has more than 70,000 team members located in almost 900 restaurants in 60 countries. Paul was responsible for global leadership development and talent management, executive talent reviews, instructional design and training implementation. While there, his team won the Cornerstone RAVE Award for Advancement in Reinventing Work. Prior to TGI Fridays, Paul was Vice President of Education Delivery and Operations Worldwide at MicroStrategy, a leading business intelligence company, where he led the global client services team focusing on education sales and delivery at major organizations like Facebook, Visa, eBay, Swedbank and Nestle. He previously worked for UnitedHealth Group, where he spent five years in various leadership roles focusing on operations NurseLine training, training innovation and training development. Paul holds a Bachelor of Science in Education, a Master of Science in Educational Administration and a Master of Distance Education degree, focusing on e-learning design, development and management. He also has professional certificates in Human Resource Administration (Villanova) and Aspiring CHRO (UC Berkeley). In addition to being a Certified Executive Coach with Marshall Goldsmith, Paul is certified in DiSC, Situational Leadership and EQi-2.0 assessment/coaching.
