Design Thinking: A Video interview with Kevin Finke

“Design thinking can be used really for any kind of problem solving.” That’s according to NCR Culture Transformation Catalyst Kevin Finke.
From an HR perspective, Finke says it’s being used to create very meaningful and memorable experiences.
“What it’s about is putting the people that have the problems; the users, the guests, the employees, the participants… whatever they are… at the center of the solutions you’re creating for them,” Finke said.
How does he do this? The answer is through story. Finke believes this is instrumental to design thinking.
“I don’t think we’d even know we were human if we didn’t have story. Story, for me, is foundational in all the work I do,” Finke said. “Story is what brings meaning into our life. It creates identity. It promotes understanding. It can be used to motivate people into action and influence their behavior.”
Finke went on to say he sees companies as stories playing themselves out.
